On Saturday, October 20, 2012, we will present the Hellenic Ball commemorating the 30th Olympiad of the Modern Era, in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel. With the theme, “On the Wings of Knowledge” we will celebrate the triumph of knowledge regarding Greek history at the University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University. We are proud to honor three individuals who have contributed significantly to the perpetuation of the Hellenic Culture within the San Diego and Southern California regions. They are: Christine L. Cremidan, Mr. George Karetas and Mr. Peter Demopoulos.

This event has two purposes: first to rekindle enthusiasm and pride in our Hellenic heritage, and second, to cover all the expenses of this ball, leaving a substantial amount of monetary gain to create scholarship – fellowship programs at UCSD and to help establish a Professorship in the Classics Department at SDSU through the auspices of the Friends of Classics. We are extremely excited for this opportunity to advance Hellenic knowledge in these two prestigious institutions.

Specific underwriting opportunities are available. Donors will receive prominent recognition in the Gala Program Book.

Additionally, there are various donation levels that you can participate in; a generous donation of $100.00 or more is deeply appreciated and will receive recognition in the Gala Program Book. Gold Medal – Over $1000.00, Silver Medal -$1000, Bronze Medal-$500, Laurel Wreath – $250, and Olive Wreath- $100.00

All donors and underwriters will be recognized in the program book and highlighted as significantly supporting and assisting us in creating an event that will, indeed, continue the important work of the Hellenic Cultural Society. All donations are, in fact, tax deductible. It is our hope that as we share this magical evening, we will move a step closer to supporting worthy students attending the classes offered through these Greek history programs. Through the efforts of the Hellenic Cultural Society and the generosity of great visionary families, the Nicholas ‘ , Vassiliadis’ and Ranglas’, we are able to continue our forward movement to bring these Classics Programs into a fully operational status.
